4. Material and Specification Review Selection of suppliers for materials, request quotes from all major suppliers.
  • Define all fixtures, fittings, and allowances.
  • Discuss any changes to materials or fixtures and fittings this must be discussed with us before submitting pricing plans.
5. Labour and Subcontractor Quotes Contact subcontractors (plumbers, electricians, painters, etc.) for detailed quotes.
  • Ensure subcontractors provide a clear breakdown of labour, materials, and timelines.
  • Assess contractor availability.
6. Cost Estimation and Takeoffs QS to estimate build labour costs based on past projects and current market rates.
  • Include contingency amounts for unforeseen issues.
7. Additional Costs and Compliance Factor in permit fees, council fees, and resource consent requirements.
  • Add insurance, warranties, and liability coverage.
  • Consider project management fees and site management costs.
8. Drafting the Quote Conduct in person meeting, tabling all quotes (hidden margin free)
  • Break down the quote into sections (materials, labor, permits, fees, contingencies).
  • Include exclusions and assumptions to avoid miscommunication.
9. Client Presentation and Follow-Up Prepare a professional proposal document.
  • Offer a walkthrough of the quote, explaining all line items.
  • Provide opportunities for adjustments based on client feedback.
